Angels Sneak Past Dodgers, 8-7
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers and California Angels provided some drama for the home crowd.
California first baseman Preston Deakyne made his presence felt in the 8-7 Angels triumph over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Deakyne went 3-6 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner was California reliever Joe Butler, now 1-0. The loser was Luke Kinman.
Deakyne had a game-changing home run in the top of the 14th. On a 0-2 fastball from Luke Kinman, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Angels a 8-7 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Deakyne.
"We battled our tails off to get this win," said California manager Dakota Wise.
The win puts California at 7-5.
