Marlins Lose to Mets, 5-4
|
Miami got a terrific game from catcher Mike Sonn. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to New York, 5-4. Sonn was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Enkei Wakamatsu got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 10 and walking 0. Ron Hawkins was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
Scott Bartholomew contributed to the New York win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"I like the roll we're on," said New York manager Alan Kahaly.
At 15-6, the Mets have played well so far.
