Montreal Beats New York, 8-3
|
The New York Yankees got a superb performance from catcher Brad Ritter, but the Montreal Expos still won the game, 8-3. Ritter went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The Expos, now 15-7, have been playing some good baseball.
Mike Salmon, the slugging first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Salmon contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put Montreal up, 2-0.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Montreal manager Robb Dixon.
