The Bowling Green Hot Rods stopped the Lexington Legends by a score of 30-0 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark today, with the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman David Ward. The 23-year-old had a career day, collecting 6 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Ward said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Ward did just that in his 7 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Legends.

"Not much that I can say," offered Lexington manager Tyler Sturdevant. "He just hammered the heck out of us."

David Ward hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a GRAND SLAM off Bryan Alfaro in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Nate Mumaw in the 5th, walked in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Nate Mumaw in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

In 58 games this season Ward has compiled a .338 batting average with 70 hits and 10 home runs. He has also scored 45 times and knocked in 58 runs.
