Cook goes 3-for-5, Nationals Move to 18-7
|
With first baseman Seth Cook leading the charge, the Washington Nationals defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 10-5, at Nationals Park. Cook, who is tied for 8th in the NL in total bases with 58, went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The winning pitcher was Dale Ahernfeld. He tossed 95 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 5 runs on 5 hits. Washington, now 18-7, has played well in the early going.
Cook had a key at-bat for Washington early in the game. With the bases loaded, he hit a grand slam home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and gave Washington an early 4-0 lead.
"The vibe's good," said Washington manager Mike Shore. "We've got to keep it going."
