Round 1 Goes the Distance, Tampa Prevails Saturday, January 28th , 2045 The Tampa Yankees were paced by a strong offensive output from Bobby Melillo as they downed the Charlotte Stone Crabs 2-1 to win the Round 1. Tampa won the final game by a score of 5-1 at Charlotte Sports Park to send themselves off to the Round 2. "I wasn't so much focused on putting up big offensive numbers as I was about ensuring we won the games. So it's mission accomplished there," said third baseman Melillo, who was named MVP. For the series, the MVP hit .583 with a .688 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Tampa Yankees will play against the Daytona Tortugas in the next round. Daytona had a bye in the Round 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
