Mavericks Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire Saturday, January 28th , 2045 The High Desert Mavericks and Frederick Keys held nothing back in an entertaining Round 1 that went the distance. In the end, it will be High Desert advancing to the Round 2, after a 10-5 triumph in the final game at Stater Bros. Stadium, to wrap up the series 2-1. The Mavericks players celebrated jubilantly in their clubhouse after the game, while the scene was one of dismay on the opposing side for the Keys. Rodolfo Contreras was named series MVP for High Desert. For the series, Contreras hit .455 with a .538 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 6 runs. The High Desert Mavericks will play against the Modesto Nuts in the next round. Modesto won their series against the Potomac Nationals 2 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
