3-Homer Hat Trick for Hopper
Tuesday, August 15th , 2045
Kannapolis Intimidators right fielder Brandon Hopper put on a dazzling display of power today at Whitaker Bank Ballpark against the Lexington Legends. In the 28-1 Intimidators victory Hopper penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Lexington manager Tyler Sturdevant said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 21-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Hopper said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Brandon Hopper hit a two-run home run off Ben Garrett in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Ben Garrett in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, flied out in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Ron Bubar in the 6th.
In the current season, Hopper has put up a .320 batting average with 118 hits, 33 home runs, 111 runs batted in and scored 84 runs.
