Dennis and Ekmalyan Brawl, League Suspends Them Friday, August 18th , 2045 Yesterday at Appalachian Power Park Steve Dennis and Matysh Ekmalyan got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the West Virginia Power and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Dennis will have to sit out 3 while Ekmalyan would be given a 7-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. To date Dennis has chalked up a .217 average with 2 home runs, driven in 16 runs and scored 18 times. So far this season Ekmalyan has no saves in no relief appearances with a 11-5 record and 3.77 ERA. |
