Casey Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Power Wednesday, September 20th , 2045 Great Lakes Loons right fielder Mitchell Casey put on a dazzling display of power today at Dow Diamond against the West Virginia Power. In the 11-4 Loons victory Casey penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," West Virginia manager Cruz Gomez said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 22-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Casey said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Mitchell Casey hit a solo-shot off Shinya Ito in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Shinya Ito in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off George Clarke in the 8th. So far this season Casey has 19 home runs and a .230 batting average. |
