5-for-6 Day for Utley Sunday, May 21st , 2045 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Devon Utley today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Eastwood Field and paced the Yankees to a 31-7 win over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. After his dynamite batting performance, the Staten Island first baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Devon Utley walked in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, singled in the 8th, walked in the 8th and flied out in the 9th. So far this year, Utley is batting .281 with no home runs and 5 RBIs. |
