Super Swinger -- Munguia Slams 5 Hits Tuesday, July 11th , 2045 Even as a kid, Chris Munguia said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Melaleuca Field today, Munguia showed how well he learned that lesson. The 21-year-old right fielder had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Minnesota (NYP) Twins, helping his team knock off the Idaho Falls Chukars by a score of 16-10. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Chris Munguia singled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 8th and singled in the 9th. So far this season Munguia has gotten 98 hits in 306 at-bats for a .320 batting average with 3 home runs. His stats include 36 RBIs and 81 runs scored. He has played in 79 games. |
