Staten Island Hexed: No-Hit by Perez Saturday, July 22nd , 2045 In a dominant outing, Luis Perez of the Aberdeen Ironbirds totally silenced the bats of the Staten Island Yankees, finishing with a no-hitter. In the Ironbirds' 12-0 victory, Perez faced only 29 batters, surrendered no hits, had 16 strikeouts and 2 walks. "Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Aberdeen manager Tyler Beede said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any." Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Aaron Sanchez had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game. "The Ironbirds had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Perez pitched a heck of a ballgame." This season Perez has a 4-2 record with a 2.85 ERA in 7 starts. |
