News Goes From Bad to Worse for Alvarez
Tuesday, September 5th , 2045
The baseball career of Luis Alvarez is over. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles (NYP) Dodgers clarified earlier comments about the 34-year-old starting pitcher. Alvarez, he said, will retire effective immediately as the result of a torn rotator cuff. Though he had spoken optimistically about playing again, Alvarez informed the team that he has decided to retire. It is a sad day for Los Angeles (NYP) -- a sad day for those who had hoped that Alvarez would return.
This season Alvarez has fanned 20 in 16.2 innings and collected a 0-0 record with a 2.16 ERA.
