Braves Heading to World Series Monday, October 23rd , 2045 Rome shortstop Joe Young couldn't hide his reaction when asked about being named MVP of the Conference Championship. "It's a nice honor," he said, failing to suppress a wide smile. The trophy was presented to Young moments after his club eliminated the Boise Hawks to advance to the World Series. Rome won the final game by a score of 9-1 at State Mutual Stadium and took the series 4-1. "We won the series and that's the main thing," Young said. "They were a tough team and we didn't want to take anything for granted." For the series, Young hit .450 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 6 runs. "He was tough to stop and that's a big reason they're there and we're here," said a dejected Boise manager Aaron Hingle. The World Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Conference Championship finishes. |
