Reliever of the Year Goes to Leon

Javier Leon of the Boise Hawks said he never set out to win the National League Reliever of the Year this season, but he'll certainly take it.

"2045 was a pretty good year for me, that much is obvious," he said. "This is icing on the cake."


The 31-year-old out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania fashioned a 1.70 ERA this season over 74.1 innings of work. He made 48 relief appearances and had 4 saves, 102 strikeouts, 10 walks and a record of 3 wins and 1 loss.

He received 24 first place votes out of a possible 30. Kevin Turner of the State College Spikes finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Chad Norris of the Boise Hawks finished third.
