3 Home Runs for Pond
Saturday, December 23rd , 2045
Steve Pond brutalized the Minnesota (WIN) Twins pitching staff, launching three home runs in today's 12-1 victory at Hammond Stadium. The Los Angeles (WIN) Dodgers right fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day.
"I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one."
For the game, he went 3-for-5 with 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Too much Steve Pond today," Twins manager Tom Bartlett said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to."
Steve Pond hit a solo-shot off Steffen Joseph in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Steffen Joseph in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Inkei Wakamatsu in the 9th.
This year Pond has batted at a .200 pace with 17 hits, 7 home runs, 17 RBIs and scored 11 times.
