Rhodes, Trujillo Suspended for Fracas Friday, September 22nd , 2045 After an intense confrontation, both the Tar Heels Bill Rhodes and the Bulldogs Jon Trujillo were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill-Fresno State University game. Bill Rhodes will miss 3 games, while Jon Trujillo was suspended for 7 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Bill Rhodes commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." This season Rhodes is swinging the bat at a .200 rate with 7 hits in 35 at-bats. To date he has hit no home runs, scored 2 runs and driven in 3. So far this season Trujillo has a 2-2 record, 9 starts, 42.1 innings, 36 strikeouts and a 5.74 ERA. |
