Fresno State University Goes Hitless Against Lightfoot
Thursday, December 14th , 2045
The University of South Carolina Gamecocks relied on no-hit stuff from starter Seb Lightfoot to defeat the Fresno State University Bulldogs 12-0 at Pete Beiden Field today.
"It's quite a thrill," Lightfoot told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the Dvision 1 records, he stopped Fresno State University cold and hitless, surrendering 2 walks and fanning 0 of the 29 batters he faced.
University of South Carolina manager Javier Zuniga was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Lightfoot "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
This season Lightfoot has worked 106 innings with 25 strikeouts en route to a 8-6 record and a 2.97 ERA.
