Villagomez Bashes 5 Base Hits Friday, September 15th , 2045 The Columbus Reds stopped the Niagara Falls Phantoms by a score of 25-1 at Niagara Falls Casino & Resort today, with the lion's share of the credit going to catcher Alex Villagomez. The 18-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Villagomez said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Villagomez did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Phantoms. "Not much that I can say," offered Niagara Falls manager Richard Hauser. "He just hammered the heck out of us." Alex Villagomez hit a sac fly in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Chris Bryant in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. Presently Villagomez is batting .305 with 53 hits and 3 home runs. He has knocked in 26 runs and scored 27 times. |
