Thrash Sizzles -- Smokes Braves for 5 Hits
Monday, October 2nd , 2045
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-8 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Jason Thrash, it came around today.
The 22-year-old first baseman scattered hits all over Miami Beach Stadium to pace the Miami Beach Marlins to a 11-7 victory over the Americus Braves.
Americus skipper Jaime Krempa told reporters in the press room that "Thrash deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Thrash hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Jason Thrash grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Pu-la Yun in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Tyler Portier in the 9th, grounded out in the 11th, struck out in the 14th and singled in the 16th.
For the season Thrash is batting .328 with 168 hits and 26 home runs. He has scored 138 times and batted in 90.
