Gordon Fires No-Hitter
Saturday, October 7th , 2045
David Gordon really did a number on the Paris Cubs at Winnipeg International Baseball & Gold Complex today -- and that number was zero.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Goldeyes to victory, 29-0.
"This is something special," Gordon said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look."
The left-hander faced only 29 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 25 and walked 2.
"We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," Paris manager Tim Tebow said when asked about the epic performance. "Gordon was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number."
Gordon has taken the mound for 1 relief appearance this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 19-3 record with a 1.92 ERA. The Winnipeg reliever has limited opposing batters to a .150 batting average.
