Leyba Stretches Hit String to 20 Sunday, October 8th , 2045 New Jersey first baseman Tony Leyba keeps on racking up hits every time he plays. His hitting streak now stands at 20 games after collecting 3 hits at Mike Ilitch Memorial Field today. The Devils took the 6-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings. "I have been seeing the ball really good the last few weeks, but I am a bit surprised how things are working out," Leyba said. "I've gotten a couple flares to drop in, so I've also been a little lucky." Tony Leyba hit a two-run home run off Leon Benitez in the 1st, hit a GRAND SLAM off Leon Benitez in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th and doubled in the 7th. This season Leyba is batting .316 with 183 RBIs, 123 runs scored and 80 home runs. |
