Smashing Success: Codd Wallops 3 HR
Wednesday, October 18th , 2045
Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, D.J. Codd can celebrate.
The Oakland Oaks left fielder powered three into the stands at Oakland Oaks Grounds today against the Amarillo ThunderHeads.
"It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Codd told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one."
In all, he was 3-for-4 as the Oaks toppled Amarillo by a score of 14-4, knocking in 5 runs and scoring 3 times.
"He is blessed with a natural home run swing," Oakland manager Matt Orlando said. "He gets the ball up in the air."
D.J. Codd flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jose Vela in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jose Vela in the 4th, walked in the 5th and hit a three-run home run off Pat Mena in the 7th.
For the year Codd has hit .462 with 102 home runs, 246 RBIs and scored 208 runs.
