Fans of the Canton Indians are hoping there are many more awards to come for their talented ace, Mike Shields.
At the age of only 23, the star pitcher has been named the Eastern League Most Valuable Player Award winner for 2045.
"We knew Shields was a special player, but I don't think anyone expected him to get this good, this fast," the Canton manager said.
Shields's dominant season saw him throw 189 innings, with a 2.10 ERA and .181 opponent's batting average. He had a record of 19-3 through 24 starts and compiled a 9.9 WAR along the way.
