Cavaliers End Afghani's Streak
Thursday, September 28th , 2045
University of Miami center fielder Jerry Afghani came into today's game against the University of Virginia Cavaliers on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Cavaliers did their jobs well, beating the University of Miami Hurricanes 5-2 and holding Afghani hitless to snap his 25-game hitting streak. The 17-year-old center fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-1, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Jerry did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Hurricanes manager Tolenka Yakushkin. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 25 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
A look at his season totals shows Afghani with no home runs, .393 BA, .425 OBP, 25 RBIs and 26 runs scored.
