Membreno Raps 3 HR Against Golden Gophers Sunday, November 26th , 2045 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers today. Louisiana State University first baseman Fernando Membreno tripled up on the home runs to propel the Tigers to the 21-9 win at U.S. Bank Stadium . "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," University of Minnesota manager Conor Kerins said. "Membreno hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Membreno collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats, 7 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Fernando Membreno hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a GRAND SLAM off Kenny Russell in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 9th. This year Membreno has hit at a .286 pace and produced 62 RBIs, 16 home runs and scored 45 runs. |
