Membreno Goes 5-for-6 Against University of Minnesota Sunday, November 26th , 2045 Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Fernando Membreno of the Louisiana State University Tigers had one of those moments when he went 5-for-6 at the plate today in the 21-9 win over the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers at U.S. Bank Stadium . "I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 18-year-old first baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years." Fernando Membreno hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a GRAND SLAM off Kenny Russell in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 9th. In 72 games Membreno is hitting .286 this season with 53 hits, 16 home runs, 62 RBIs, 24 walks, .373 OBP and has scored 45 runs. |
