Crimson Tide End Nieves's Streak
Wednesday, December 6th , 2045
Florida State University first baseman Juan Nieves came into today's game against the University of Alabama Crimson Tide on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Crimson Tide did their jobs well, beating the Florida State University Seminoles 14-3 and holding Nieves hitless to snap his 21-game hitting streak. The 17-year-old first baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-1, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Juan did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Seminoles manager Eric Charles. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 21 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
Nieves is hitting .357 this year with 21 home runs and 102 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .459, 53 walks and scored 79 times.
