Rangers Top Oakland, 4-3
|
The Texas Rangers picked up a win at Globe Life Park in Arlington, knocking off the Oakland Athletics, 4-3. On the mound for Texas was right-hander Hector Aguado, who played a pivotal role in the win. Texas reliever Mike Webb picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. George Rubio was saddled with the loss. Chad Steffee was credited with the save for Texas, his 1st of the season.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Andy Bowman came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Oakland pitcher George Rubio, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Texas on top, 4-3.
"This team is on a mission," said Aguado, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
The win boosted Texas to 22-12.
