Twins Rally For 3-1 Win
|
Minnesota got a first-rate effort from pitcher Gerbrand van de Bilt, who frustrated St. Louis hitters en route to a 3-1 Twins triumph at Busch Stadium. Reliever David Silva picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. Steve Cooper took the loss. Mark Case locked down his 8th save.
Alejandro Soriano, the 28-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Soriano contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Minnesota up, 3-1.
"Every loss stings," said St. Louis manager Jeff Jones Jr.. "This one is no exception."
The Twins, at 16-20, sit in third place in the American League Central Division.
