Chambino, Yankees Too Much for Braves
|
With third baseman Bartholomeu Chambino leading the charge, the New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves, 6-3, at Turner Field. Chambino, who finished 3rd in the AL in RBI with 124 in 2043, went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Reliever Robert Cruz picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Victor Munoz took the loss. Earning his 10th save for New York was Joel Pacheco.
New York used the timely hitting of Jordan de Jesus to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Yankees on top, 6-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," de Jesus told the New York Times.
With the win, New York pushed its record to 22-20.
