Orioles Suffer 6-3 Setback
|
Led by Mike Jaquez, the Kansas City Royals downed the Baltimore Orioles, 6-3. Jaquez was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Royals. Bryan Boykin, the winning pitcher, is now 3-3. He went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 5. Getting the save was Asa Hahn, his 7th.
Jaquez contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Kansas City in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-1, Jaquez took a cutter from Errol Dondale and stroked the home run to left-center. His 14th home run of the season allowed the Royals to leap in front, 4-3.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Jaquez told the Kansas City Chronicle. "It's as simple as that."
The win has Kansas City at 18-26.
