						Atlanta Beats St. Louis, 8-1
					 |

The Atlanta Braves defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 8-1, in National League action at Busch Stadium. Atlanta pitcher Matt Sigurdson had a standout performance. In 5.1 innings, Sigurdson surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Atlanta is now 23-26, while St. Louis is 24-27.
Atlanta used the bat of Ramon Villarreal to capture the win. The second baseman jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Braves ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Sigurdson.
