Pittsburgh starter Josh Markham had a strong outing against the Cincinnati Reds at PNC Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Jeremy Kennie locked down his 16th save. The victory gives Pittsburgh a record of 30-22.

Had Bubba Tierney not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Tierney hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Pirates.

"It feels good to get this one," Markham told the Pittsburgh Gazette.
