Mariners Turn Away Expos, 3-1
|
The Seattle Mariners beat the Montreal Expos, 3-1, at Quebecor Stadium. Starting pitcher Larry Tuckfard was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. In 7 innings, Tuckfard surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The win elevated the Mariners to 30-26.
Seattle relied on the hitting of Malik Brookshire to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mariners on top, 3-0. For the game, Brookshire had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
