The New York Mets extended their winning streak.
With left fielder Roberto Magne leading the charge, the New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants, 11-5, at AT&T Park. Magne went 3-5 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Matt McAtee picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 4-6.
With New York leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Magne came up to bat against San Francisco pitcher Tim Welshman. Magne hit a fastball to center for a bases-clearing double. His 7th double of the season put the Mets on top, 5-0.
"We'll hit the hot tub tonight in good spirits tonight," said Magne.
The Giants, at 32-22, have lost 4 in a row.
