The home crowd had a good time watching the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves get after it.
The Atlanta Braves picked up a win at Turner Field, knocking off the Chicago Cubs, 6-2. On the mound for Atlanta was right-hander Gavin Nelson, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 8.1 innings, Nelson surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs.
Colin Worthington chipped in for Atlanta, stroking a crucial run-scoring double in the bottom of the seventh inning. For the game, the left fielder went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I like how we're playing right now," said Worthington.
The win puts Atlanta at 30-27 this season.
