Mariners CF Herrada goes 3-for-4 in Win
|
The Seattle (APP) Mariners stopped the Pulaski Yankees, 8-4, at Mariners Complex. The Mariners got a big game from Humberto Herrada, who was 3-4 with a home run, a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Reliever Wang Jing picked up the win. His record improves to 3-5. Eric Blais took the loss. Gregorio Perez converted his 24th save in 27 tries.
The Mariners got an important contribution from left fielder Griffin Fogle, who in the bottom of the sixth hit a 1-0 fastball into right for a run-scoring single. It was his 120th hit of the season and put the Mariners ahead, 5-4.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Mariners manager Brad Delatte. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
The 4th-place Mariners raised their record to 56-80.
