Reds Find a Way to Win
The Pittsburgh Pirates got a superb performance from pitcher Riichi Yamashita. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Cincinnati. The Reds won the game, 7-6. Yamashita came in in relief and pitched to 15 batters. Casey Truax, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. With the win, the Reds sit at 32-24.

Cincinnati won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With no outs and Jimmy Vanthournoutingtonle on the mound for Pittsburgh, designated hitter Antonio Figueroa hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Reds fans to their feet.

"Our team showed some spunk," said Figueroa.
