Pirates Beat Cincinnati, 4-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds got a superb performance from pitcher Dave Rivera, but the Pittsburgh Pirates still won the game, 4-3. Rivera threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Jeremy Kennie notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now sits at 2-2. Pittsburgh raised its record to 32-26 with the win.
Pittsburgh used a timely hit from Eisse Bravenboer to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put the Pirates ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager MLM Double Dip.
