The Chicago Cubs got a good effort from starter Randy Budgell in defeating the New York Mets at Wrigley Field. The final score was 3-1. With the victory, the Cubs upped their record to 30-29.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Josh Kalman contributed a big hit for the Cubs. With Chicago trailing 1-0, he hammered a solo home run.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Kalman said.
