The Chicago Cubs downed the New York Mets, 7-6. The hitting star was shortstop Yasuhide Kasahara. Kasahara was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Cubs. The win puts Chicago at 31-29 this season.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Kasahara hit a fastball from Ron Hawkins for a solo home run. The Cubs, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Kasahara said.
