Ortiz Guns Downs 20 Cyclones
Tony Ortiz, who is tied for 6th in the NL with a 14.6 K/9 rate, had a day to behold at Russell Diethrick Park today. He fanned 20 Cyclones batters en route to a 23-0 victory. Ortiz shackled Brooklyn on 2 hits and gave up no walks in an outstanding performance.

"That's as good as I've ever seen him throw," Black Bears manager Kevin Gausman said. "I've never seen so many bad swings in my life. These guys didn't have a chance."

Ortiz himself had little to say after the game, telling reporters, "We won and that's the bottom line."

This year Ortiz has 4 saves, totaled 35.2 innings, allowed 26 base hits and fashioned a 3.79 ERA while racking up 58 strikeouts and a record of 4 wins and 1 loss.
