Cubs Walk It Off for 34th Win of Season
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates got a sterling performance from designated hitter Pat Sutton, but the Chicago Cubs still prevailed, 8-6. Sutton went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 6 runs and scored once. Chicago reliever Brock Lewis picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Jeremy Kennie absorbed the loss. With the win, Chicago raised its record to 34-30.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Chicago trailing 6-5, Terry Tuckfard hit a fastball from Jeremy Kennie for a 3-run home run, giving the Cubs the walk-off win.
"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Tuckfard told the Chicago Chronicle.
