Blue Jays Jolt Indians with Late Rally
|
With third baseman Tyler Gray leading the charge, the Bluefield Blue Jays defeated the Cleveland (APP) Indians, 8-3, at Bowen Field. Gray, who is tied for 8th in the AL in bases on balls with 96, was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Bluefield reliever Cory Falcon picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Yoshinobu Ogino shouldered the loss. Bluefield has 23 straight wins, Cleveland (APP) 10 straight losses.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Bluefield center fielder Sung-ho Lee. In the bottom of the eighth inning, with two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Lee hit a run-scoring single to help Bluefield seize the win.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Gray said in reaction to the win.
