The Elizabethton Twins defeated the Princeton Rays, 5-3, in American League action at H.P. Hunnicutt Field, with Elizabethton pitcher Markus Schellevis named player of the game. Schellevis went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9. His record improves to 11-8. Martin Coleman got the save, his 25th in 29 chances.
Luis Tarango gave Elizabethton a good at-bat in the top of the second inning. With the bases loaded, he hit a run-scoring single to help send Elizabethton to the win.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Twins manager Elvis Morel, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
