Late Rally by Rays Secures Win
|
The Elizabethton Twins and Princeton Rays provided some drama at H.P. Hunnicutt Field.
The Elizabethton Twins got a superb performance from pitcher Cory McElhaney, but the Princeton Rays still won the game, 4-3. McElhaney was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. Princeton reliever Mike Pope picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Arjan Geertsma absorbed the loss. Xu-gang Zhou earned the save for Princeton, his 15th of the year.
In the bottom of the eighth, Jorge Molina had a big bases-clearing double off Arjan Geertsma. With the double, the Princeton designated hitter put his team in front, 4-3. He went 1-4 with a double, while adding 4 RBI in the contest.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Molina said after the game.
Princeton currently is in 4th place in the American League East at 49-92.
