Burlington Royals starter Steve Friesner was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Oakland (APP) Athletics, 6-2. The Royals go to 60-80, putting them second in the American League Central.

An important at-bat for the Royals came in the bottom of the fifth, when second baseman Devin Garrett stroked a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-0 in favor of Burlington. For the day, Garrett was 1-5 with a double.

Garrett described the clubhouse as "strangely calm" after the game.
