Yankees Prevail, 3-1, Over Washington
|
The New York Yankees topped the Washington Nationals, 3-1, in American League action at Yankee Stadium. The standout performance belonged to New York pitcher and Mexico, native Francisco Rivas. Rivas got the win, improving to 5-4. He allowed 4 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. Rivas allowed 1 run. The victory gives New York a record of 41-29.
Evan Torraville, who finished 3rd in the AL in RBI with 125 last year, aided the New York cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances.
"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Torraville. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
